Braies - Long

The Starting Point of Any Medieval Outfit

Braies are where it begins. Before the tunic and hose, this unassuming undergarment was worn by centuries of warriors, peasants, artisans, and nobles alike. From the council room to the campfire, they were a subtle presence pervading all. Whether you're gearing up for LARPing or reenactment, or you're simply looking for a comfortable yet stylish base for your medieval attire, these braies will be perfect. They are the quintessential piece your gear was lacking, the sort of piece that performs so elegantly you'll wonder how you ever did without it.

A Staple in Medieval Clothing

Braies were a common sight across early, high, and late medieval Europe. They were the foundational piece in almost every medieval clothing system, what you'd slip on before your chausses, hosen, or anything else. And with their drawstring waist, wide leg openings, and loose fit, ours follow that same historical logic: easy to wear, simple to tie, and just roomy enough to move naturally throughout the day. The calf-length cut makes them especially useful when pairing with split hosen, helping you keep things decent, layered, and historically grounded in equal measure.

Light Cotton Comfort, Everyday Fit

Crafted from a soft, lightweight cotton casement fabric, the Braies - Long are built for breathability and long wear. The natural off-white color makes them easy to pair with any style of outerwear or medieval garment, from peasant tunics to noble coats. Their cut ensures coverage without adding bulk, and the comfortable shape means they won’t bunch or chafe, even under multiple layers of wool and leather. Whether you're working around camp, walking through town, or resting by the fire, you'll barely notice them under your kit, and that’s the point.

Made to Layer, Ready to Work

These braies aren’t just for lounging (though they do that remarkably well). They’re made to be layered beneath your outer garments, especially hosen or chausses, which often leave the crotch exposed when not fully joined. This piece of medieval underwear makes a practical must-have for anyone seeking historical accuracy, modesty, or simply breathable comfort under heavy gear. And let’s be honest, even the roughest mercenary or dirtiest peasant deserves decent underpants that won’t let them down in the middle of the day.

Quiet, Functional, and Unassuming

There’s no decoration here, no bells and whistles, just an honest piece of kit that serves its purpose and does it well. The Braies - Long belong in every character’s clothing chest, whether you’re building a full historical wardrobe or just need a reliable base for your next event. They're equally suited for soldiers on campaign, monks in meditation, or tavern-goers just getting dressed in the morning. And while the photos might not do them justice (we know, the shirt got more attention), trust that you'll feel the quality and freedom these bring the moment you tie them on.
