Spears: Range, Precision, and Control

Dominate the second rank and keep the enemy at bay.

Long before swords became the "hero weapon" of choice, the spear was the actual king of the battlefield. It’s a simple concept—a long shaft with a sharp point—but for thousands of years, it was the primary tool for everyone from peasant levies to elite palace guards. Why? Because it gave you reach. It allowed a soldier to stop a cavalry charge dead in its tracks or strike an opponent before they could even get close enough to swing a blade.

At Epic Armoury, we’ve taken that historical dominance and adapted it for the modern hobby. Our LARP spears are built with a rigid fiberglass core wrapped in durable closed-cell foam, giving you the feel and reach of the real thing without the danger. They let you fight effectively from the second rank, poking over a teammate's shield and controlling the fight from a safe distance, all while keeping the safety marshals happy.

Visual Styles: From History to High Fantasy

Because the spear shows up in almost every culture in history, we wanted to make sure our lineup covered all the bases. You shouldn't have to break your character's immersion just to get a weapon with good stats.

  • Historical Roots: For the history buffs, we have the classics. That means Viking Hewing Spears and Medieval Boar Spears—which, by the way, are actually great for trapping enemy weapons in a fight. We also have curved Naginatas and Yari-style heads if you are going for a Samurai look.

  • High Fantasy Designs: If you are playing a specific fantasy race, we have the gear to match. We’ve got elegant, curved blades for the High Elves and jagged, rusty-looking designs that fit perfectly with an Orc or Goblin kit.

  • Unified Quality: It doesn't matter if the spear looks brand new or like it was pulled out of a swamp. Under the paint, the safety tech and the fiberglass construction are exactly the same.

The Transport Dilemma: Compact vs. Classic

We know that the hardest part of owning a spear is often just getting it to the game. A 190cm weapon doesn't fit in every car. To solve this, we offer two distinct construction types within this category.

The Compact Line

Many of our newer models feature our proprietary Compact Spear System. These weapons are built with a high-strength threaded bolt mechanism that allows you to break the shaft down into two manageable pieces. It is the ultimate solution for public transport or small trunks. Once bolted together, the joint is rock solid—you won’t feel it move, even during heavy combat.

The Classic Line

Some of our most iconic and long-standing designs are built as a single, solid piece. These Classic models are perfect for players who have the transport capacity and prefer the traditional feel of an uninterrupted shaft. Be sure to check the product details to see if your chosen spear is a "Compact" or a solid construction.

Built for the Thrust

The biggest failure point in cheap LARP spears is the "wobble." If the core is too thin, the weapon flexes uncontrollably when you move it, making it impossible to aim. We use a thick, high-grade fiberglass core that provides the structural stiffness you need. When you thrust, the tip goes exactly where you aim it.

Because spears are primarily thrusting weapons, safety is critical. Every single Epic Armoury spear features a specialized reinforced tip. This internal construction creates a buffer zone that prevents the fiberglass core from ever pushing through the foam, ensuring that your attacks remain safe for your opponent, even in the heat of a charge.

Maintenance for the Long Haul

A spear takes a lot of abuse. The shaft often rubs against shields, and the tip sees constant contact. To keep your weapon in fighting shape, we recommend a regular application of Protection Gel. This keeps the latex coating flexible and prevents the foam from drying out or cracking, ensuring your weapon passes safety checks for years to come.

Hold the Line

Whether you need a collapsible Naginata for easy travel or a solid Viking spear to complete your shield wall, we have the reach you need.
