OUR STATEMENT ON THE
WAR IN UKRAINE

“I would never want Ukraine to be a piece on the map, on the chessboard of big global players,
so that someone could toss us around, use us as cover, as part of some bargain.”
– Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine

War is War

In our privileged peace, the concept of war is reserved for fiction in books, movies and adventure. Once the pretended battles are over, we leave the characters and laugh. But not everyone has this privilege. In the illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine, there are no characters and players. There are only people. Real people.

Life is Life

As these crimes of humanity unfold, we, like many other people worldwide, feel an urge to act. To somehow aid the Ukrainian people. To do something and hope that our combined efforts will make a positive difference. For this reason, we decided to sanction our trade with Russia and donate money to several humanitarian and animal welfare organisations.

Peace is Peace

We hope that the Russian government will cease their heinous aggression and retreat from Ukraine. We hope that all those who have fled their homes may return home peacefully. We hope that life once more will be good for them. That they can be privileged like us and have time for books, movies and adventure.

Let us be clear:

The German Animal Welfare Association

Although most of our donations have been given to humanitarian organisations, we know that warfare often forces people to leave their domestic animals behind to an uncertain fate. The German Animal Welfare Association, in German called “Deutscher Tierschutzbund”, was founded in 1837 and has since worked to prevent animal abuse and increase animal protection. They are now active to aid the animals in Ukraine.
